19 Year Old Drunk Driver Charged On Sidewalk

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On March 13, 2016 at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Highway 6 at Woodlawn Road in the City of Guelph when they observed a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, mount the curb and strike hydro support cables before finally coming to rest on the sidewalk.

Officers spoke with the male driver and detected the strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and noted signs of impairment. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The male was arrested and taken to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.

19-year-old Joey BREESE of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on March 29, 2016 to answer to the charges.
