(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On April 8, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check at the intersection of Heritage Road and Thorndale Road.
A black Ford pickup truck travelling northbound on Heritage Road was observed approaching the intersection, but it pulled over and stopped prior to the checkpoint.
Officers conducted a traffic stop, and determined the driver had been drinking alcohol.
A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. The driver was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.
As a result of the police investigation, 58-year-old Francis POLLOCK, from Thames Centre, Ontario, has been charged with driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on May 18, 2016.
