(GODERICH, ON) – A 48-year-old Goderich resident is facing criminal charges following a traffic stop in the Town of Goderich last night. At approximately 9:40 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted an E-Bike driver operating his E-Bike without a helmet and without lights. The driver was subsequently stopped at the intersection of Newgate Street and Victoria Street North.
While speaking with the male driver police noted he had consumed some alcohol and was displaying several signs that his ability to operate was impaired. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both tests registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 48-year-old Dean MURRAY from Goderich has been charged with Impaired Operation & Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 6, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his E-Bike has been impounded for seven days
