KOOP – Drinking And Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 19-year-old male after police stopped a motor vehicle at a Charlotteville Road 8, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, April 16, 2016, at approximately 3:21 a.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of Charlotteville West Quarter Line Road, when a vehicle attracted the officer’s attention. The vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed and was subsequently stopped and investigated at a Charlottville Road 8 after the vehicle struck a deer.

As a result of investigation, police have charged 19-year-old Sjaak Peterus Cornelius KOOP, of Norfolk County, Ontario with young driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

“There is no safe level of alcohol consumption when getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. You are not only putting your life at risk, but innocent lives of other motorists travelling on the roadway ” – Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
