(ROBLIN, ON) – Just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Roblin Road, Greater Napanee.
Initial information provided was that a blue Pontiac Sunfire was in the ditch with significant damage and that no one was around.
While enroute to the call officers were updated that a male, approximately 19-20 years of age, was seen walking up to the car and setting it on fire.
The male was described as having shaggy hair and was wearing a camo jacket, camo hat, jeans and boots.
The male suspect was last seen running eastbound on Roblin Road and headed south into the bushes.
An OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team members were called to the scene to search for the male however they were unsuccessful.
Greater Napanee Fire Services attended the scene and extinguished the vehicle fire and fire along the tree line.
Due to the extent of damage to the vehicle it has not yet been determined if the vehicle was stolen.
