(CALEDON, ON) – On April 22, 2016 an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call for service pertaining to a fraud. In 2015, the victims in this matter had hired a cleaning lady for their residence located in the Town of Caledon. Over an extended period of time, the cleaner was responsible for stealing personal cheques from the residence and subsequently forging the cheques into her own name. The victims sustained a loss of approximately $36,000.
As a result of the investigation, Nicole ABBOTT, 34, of Brampton has been charged with the following offences: Fraud Over $5,000, Theft Under $5,000 and 20 counts of Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Document.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 2, 2016 to answer to the charges.
