(Napanee, ON)- On Saturday, May 7th, 2016 at 11:41 a.m. officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched to a possible impaired male attempting to unload a Sea Doo at the public boat launch on Bayview Drive, Greater Napanee.
While enroute officers were notified that the male was on the Sea Doo with a female passenger and that both were wearing life jackets.
At 12:05 p.m. police were updated that a male was conducting CPR on another male at a nearby residence on County Road 9.
Police attended the scene and learned that the male victim was found face down in the water after another boater noticed the Sea Doo going in circles with no one on it. The male was taken to shore and CPR was commenced. Police arrived and continued CPR until EMS attended.
The male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The female passenger had been dropped off on shore prior to the crash occurring and was uninjured.
Deceased is 33 year-old Ossario “Sam” HOYTE of Greater Napanee.
A post mortem examination will be conducted today to determine the cause of death.
