(HALIBURTON, ON) – On May 25, 2016 just after 6:00 p.m., officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Highlands East Fire Department and Haliburton County Paramedics responded to a single motor vehicle motor collision on Highway 118 near Hadlington Road in Highlands East Township.
Early stages of the OPP investigation has revealed that a Kia Rondo was traveling east bound on Highway 118 just west of Hadlington Road when it left the roadway and struck a rock cut.
The lone male driver, 64 year old Gerald POPE of Belleville, ON was pronounced dead at the scene.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene and is assisting with this ongoing investigation.
