(AMHERSTVIEW, ON) – On the May 27, 2016 at approximately 12:40 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Napanee Detachment were contacted after witnesses heard a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on County Road 6 at Highway 33, Amherstview, heading towards Lake Ontario.
Officers from the Napanee detachment, along with the OPP Marine Unit attended and located a submerged vehicle in Lake Ontario.
At this time it is unknown if any person(s) were in the vehicle.
The Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Rescue Unit (USRU) are attending the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
