(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On May 27, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore east of Blind River.
At 7:46 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle on Highway 17 travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that there was Cannabis Marihuana in the vehicle.
Daniel ECKERT, 37 years of age, from London, Ontario, was charged with:
• Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
• Speeding contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 7, 2016.
OPP CHARGE DRIVER WITH DRUG OFFENCE
(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On May 27, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the Town of Blind River.
At 11:48 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle on Causley Street and initiated a traffic stop. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that there was Cannabis Marihuana in the vehicle.
David DIXON, 35 years of age, from Brantford, Ontario, was charged with: Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 7, 2016.
DRIVER CHARGED – NO INSURANCE
(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On May 28, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17 in the Town of Blind River.
At 7:30 p.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle on Highway 17 with an expired temporary plate. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, the vehicle was found not to be insured.
John MCKEACHNIE, 29 years of age, from Iron Bridge, Ontario was charged with:
Drive Motor Vehicle-No Insurance, contrary to section 2(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act; and
Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 6, 2016.
