Missing 67 Year Old Hiker Found In Good Health After Spending Night On Bruce Trail

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On April 24, 2016, at approximately 10:19 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing person after a woman, and the family pet dog, failed to return home from their walk.

The woman had left her residence on South Bass Lake Road in the Township of Georgian Bluffs at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016. When she didn’t return home, her husband contact police for assistance.

The OPP West Region Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit assisted in the search.

Just before 7:00 a.m. on April 25, 2016, police located the woman, and her dog, safe and in good health on the Bruce Trail approximately 3km to 5km from her residence.

Police credit the 67-year old woman for knowing to remain in one spot and wait for assistance once she realized that she had become disoriented on the trail. She was dressed appropriately for the weather and, despite being outdoors for several hours, did not suffer any injuries.
