(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 21-year-old from South Huron will be making a trip to court in June after he decided to take his John Deere tractor and hay wagon for a drive while impaired. Just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to the area of Parr Line and Huron Street after a witness observed the driver operating his tractor in an erratic manner.
Officers were able to locate the driver on Parr Line however upon initiating a traffic stop the driver failed to stop. The officer watched as the driver proceeded to drive his tractor through a freshly planted corn field. The driver continued on through the field until he abandoned the tractor & wagon in a bush lot.
Officers identified the driver of the farm tractor and located him a short time later attempting to get into his residence. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 21-year-old Tyler GLENN from South Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on June 30, 2016. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
