(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Monday May 23, 2016, around 12:30 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a fast moving vehicle on Line 61 east of Poole. The vehicle was pulled over by the officer and while speaking with the male driver, the odour of Marihuana was detected inside the vehicle. Marihuana was seized as well as two Huron County street signs.
32-year old Derek Bruce BROWN of Wilmot Twp. has been charged with “possession of a schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under -30 grams” contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He has also been charged with “possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000” contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on an Appearance Notice and is to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on June 27, 2016, to answer to these charges.
The road signs were retrieved by the Huron County Roads Department and they have been re-installed.
