Two More Impaired Drivers Caught

(HALIBURTON, ON) Officers from the Haliburton Highlands OPP laid alcohol related driving offences on two drivers on the weekend of June 10-12, 2016.

In the first incident Police received a call on June 10, 2016 at 6:07 pm of a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on Highway 35. An officer responded and followed the Mazda 3 onto South Lake Road where the vehicle was stopped.

It was determined that the male driver had been consuming alcohol and a roadside test was administered. The result of the test was a fail and the driver was arrested for over 80. .

As a result, Brian CONNELL-TOMBS, 54 of Richmond Hill, ON was charged with:

CC 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)

In a similar incident a Jeep Wrangler headed northbound on Highway 35 was observed by a member of the public being operated in an unsafe manner. Police received the call at 10:00 pm on June 11, 2016.

An officer stopped the vehicle and the subsequent investigation resulted in James PEARCEY 51 of Uxbridge ON being charged with:

CC 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol and Drug)

CC 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

In both cases the accused were issued ninety day administrative drivers licence suspensions and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Both drivers are to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 3, 2016 to answer to the charges.
