(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to an address after being contacted by a concerned resident at a Townline Road, St Williams, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Sunday, June 19, 2016 at approximately 9:46 p.m., OPP, the OPP Marine Unit, Norfolk County Fire Services and the Canadian Coast Guard responded to Lake Erie after a male on a See-Doo failed to return from the water.
Investigation revealed that a 48-year-old male of Stoney Creek, Ontario was observed entering the water and travelling north east on a yellow coloured See-Doo on Lake Erie from the Inner Bay at approximately 4:45 p.m., on Sunday, June 19, 2016. The male failed to return after informing family that he would be gone for a short period of time. When he didn’t return, family members became concerned and contacted authorities.
Members from the Norfolk County OPP Marine Unit, Norfolk County Fires Services and the Canadian Coast Guard from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton, Ontario assisted with this incident.
While searching the area for the overdue male, Norfolk County Fire Fighters heard a male yelling for help from the area of Osgood Marsh. As a result, the male was located by the Canadian Coast Guard and was subsequently removed from the water and flown to a local area hospital for minor injuries.
