(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On June 22, 2016, shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to complaint that had occurred at a local beach in the City of Elliot Lake.
The victim, a 10 year old male attended a local beach and several kids began to gang up by pushing, shoving and chasing him. The incident escalated to the point where a stick was thrown at the victim and he received a laceration to the right side of his head. The victim attended the local hospital and received stitches for his injuries.
A 12 year old male, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with: Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).
