(Ottawa, ON) –The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a 43 yr old Ottawa man following a collision W/B on Highway 417 at Maitland.
At approximately 12:50 pm on July 11th 2016, the driver of a brown Pontiac Montana van lost control and crashed into the North sound barrier fence that is adjacent to the highway. The male driver fled the scene on foot through the opening in the fence.
Two witnesses stopped and pursued the male for approximately 20 minutes updating police on their location before the male was apprehended at the corner of Carling and Maitland Ave.
Greg Brown (43 yrs old) of Ottawa has been charged with numerous infractions contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
The OPP would like to remind the public to call the Police and wait for them at the scene and not go chasing after suspects. They should get a good description of the suspect(s) and relay that information to the officers at the scene.
