(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) –Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to attend Cockshutt Road in the County of Brant in response to a possible impaired driver being followed by a citizen at approximately 3:50 p.m. on 13 July 2016.
OPP officers attended the area and located the vehicle which was stopped on Cockshutt Road in the County of Brant. During the investigation officers determined that the driver of the 1996 Ford F-150 pick-up truck was impaired by alcohol.
Police have charged 53-year-old Thomas JOHNSTON of Norfolk County with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:
Driving While Ability Impaired,
Driving with More than 80 mgs, of Alcohol in Blood
Dangerous Driving
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date to answer to his charges. If convicted, the offender will be subject to the Criminal Code penalties, including a fine or jail time, and a driving prohibition.
