(South Porcupine, ON) – On July 20, 2016 at 4:51p.m, police stopped a Yamaha motorcycle traveling at a speed in excess of 100km/h over the posted 90km/h posted speed limit on highway 655 in Murphy Twp.
The driver, Mathew NIEMI, 41, of Schumacher is charged with Stunt – Excessive speed contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. In addition to being served a 7 day driver’s licence suspension, his motorcycle was also impounded for the same period. The driver is scheduled to attend court in September to answer to the charge.
The motoring public should be reminded, if convicted drivers could face a fine of at least $2000.00, imprisonment and an additional licence suspension
