OPP Searching For Lost Boater

On Sunday, July 24, 2016 at approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a lost 22 year old male that had been a passenger on a large cruiser yacht located on the St. Clair River. The male was last seen on the boat as it entered the harbour channel entrance to the Bridgeview Marina (Exmouth Street).

Currently, members of the OPP, OPP Marine Unit, St. Clair County Michigan Dive Team, Canadian and American Coast Guards, Sarnia and Point Edward Fire and Water Rescue are on scene attempting to locate the lost male.

The OPP are advising that areas of the channel have been marked and secured as water rescue members are searching beneath the water level. The OPP is asking that all boaters and water enthusiasts remain away from and clear of the search and rescue effort. The OPP have identified the missing male but will not be releasing his identity pending the results of the search and reasonable notification of family members.
