Collision Involving Motorcycle – Two Sent To Hospital

(LAKESHORE, ON) –Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members from Lakeshore and Tecumseh attended the scene of a two vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of Essex County Road 19 and Essex County Road 34 at approximately 1:45 p.m. today.

A southbound commercial Ford pickup truck was turning eastbound onto Essex County Road 34 from Essex County Road 19. A Harley Davidson motorcycle carrying a passenger was travelling Northbound on Essex County Road 19 at the same time.

Both vehicles entered the intersection where the collision occurred.

Both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle were transported by ambulance to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The lone occupant of the Ford was not injured.

The intersection was closed temporarily but has since been reopened.

The driver of the Ford, a 54 year old male from Lakeshore has been charged with Turn Not in Safety, contrary to Section 142(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Police remind the public to exercise care when travelling on area roadways and to be cognizant of all other vehicles, but in particular motorcyclists and cyclists sharing the highways.
