Three Impaired Drivers Charged

(LEEDS, ON.) – Officers of the Leeds County Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police are continuing investigations into three separate incidents involving impaired drivers.

On the 22nd of July 2016 at about 8:30 PM O.P.P officers arrested an impaired driver after a traffic stop on Temperance Lake Road in Athens Township. The 53 year old driver from Mallorytown faces charges of Impaired Driving.

On the 23rd of July 2016 at about 3:30 PM as a result of an investigation into a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Elgin and Main Street in Athens a 73 year old Rideau Lakes man faces Impaired Driving charges. There were no injuries.

On the 23rd of July 2016 at about 10:15 PM as a result of an investigation into a motor vehicle collision on Yardarm Lane in Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township a 30 year old female from South Stormont Township faces Impaired Driving charges. The driver backed into 4 large home propane tanks causing one to rupture.

Leeds County Detachment Commander Jeff Smith said “Some motorists aren’t getting the message. When you drink or use drugs and drive you not only risk your life and those of your passengers, but the lives of every other driver and pedestrian on the road”.

Leeds OPP officers will remain diligent in conducting R.I.D.E checks throughout the county at different times and locations.
