(HAMILTON, ON) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) – Burlington Detachment, are investigating a two vehicle collision that resulted in fatal injuries.
On Thursday, July 28, 2016, at approximately 6:28 p.m., a mobile crane was northbound on Highway 6 approaching the intersection of Concession 6/Millgrove Side Road in the City of Hamilton, Ontario. At the same time a passenger vehicle was southbound on Highway 6 and turned left at the intersection in front of the mobile crane resulting in a collision.
There were two occupants in the passenger vehicle. The female passenger, identified as Alison SMITH, 32 years of age from Hamilton, Ontario sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver identified as Michael RACHETER, 31 years of age from Burlington, Ontario was transported to hospital with critical injuries where he later died. The driver of the mobile crane was not injured.
The OPP Traffic Support Unit is assisting with the investigation. Highway 6 was closed for the investigation. Any witnesses of this collision are asked to contact the Burlington OPP Detachment – (905) 681-2511.
