(ATHOL WARD, ON) –The Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a plane crash near Salmon Point in Athol Ward.
At approximately 10:38 AM officers from the OPP and other emergency services personnel were dispatched to the plane crash which occurred while the pilot was landing on the water.
A portion of the landing apparatus malfunctioned, causing a wing to dip into the water. The two occupants of the plane were not seriously injured. Both were treated for gasoline exposure at the incident location.
The airplane is currently being towed from the water. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has been notified.
