(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) – On Tuesday, August 02, 2016 shortly after the noon hour, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols along Perth Road 119 North of Gads Hill, when a fast moving southbound Hyundai Sonata was observed. The officer activated the police radar and locked in the Hyundai’s speed at 140 km/h which is 60 km/h above the posted 80 km/h speed limit.
The vehicle was pulled over and a 37-year-old male from Scarborough was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. The male is to appear at Stratford Court on September 13, 2016 to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was removed from the scene.
The Perth County OPP wish to remind the public that the “Big 4” driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt usage will continue to be a high priority for their officers throughout the summer. Motorists are urged to drive safely and arrive alive.
