Hero Citizens Stop Man From Driving Drunk – Man Arrested After Repeatedly Turning Down Cab Ride

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On August 28, 2016, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a local restaurant establishment in the City of Elliot Lake.

An intoxicated male was attempting to drive away in his car. Employees and patrons of the restaurant were trying to prevent the male from driving away. Police attended the parking lot of the restaurant and gave the intoxicate male the opportunity to take a cab and he refused. Police asked for his vehicle keys to prevent him from driving. He refused. Police provided him another opportunity to call a cab. He refused.

As a result, Zbigniew RZADKOSZ, 51 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario, was arrested and charged with: Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The male was lodged overnight at Elliot Lake Detachment until he was sober.
