Double Fatal Collision Near St.Marys

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and members from the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) are currently investigating a double fatality collision involving a single motor vehicle north of St.Marys.

Just after 4:30 p.m. officers from the Perth County OPP Detachment, along with personnel from the St.Marys Fire Department, and Perth County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Road 149 north of Line 12.

The initial investigation has determined that the driver of a Mazda 6 was travelling southbound on Road 149 which is a gravel road, when he lost control of the car. The car slid sideways and left the roadway entering the east ditch where it struck a large tree.

The male driver of the car and the male passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver has been identified as 34-year-old Travis IREDALE of St.Marys.

The male passenger has been identified as 26-year-old Kurtis MILLS of St.Marys.

Road 149 is expected to remain closed between Line 12 and Line 16 until approximately 10:30 p.m. to allow for a complete investigation and safe removal of the vehicle and debris.
