(AMARANTH/MELANCTHON, ON) –On Thursday, the 8th of September 2016, at approximately 8:41 am Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a 911 call to a residence in Melancthon Township. The caller advised that someone was trying to break through the door. The culprits did gain entry to the residence. Police believe that this was a random act and home owner was not targeted.
The Dufferin-Caledon OPP Crime Unit as well as OPP Forensic Identification Services unit are assisting in the investigation, and as a result of the investigation, two males have been arrested and charged.

Police remind residents to ensure doors and windows are locked and to have neighbours check on their property if they are going to be away for an extended period of time. OPP believe suspects are targeting homes that are not currently occupied or owners are away for work purposes.
