(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Friday September 09, 2016, shortly after 7 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was dispatched to area of Perth Line 86 east of Listowel, where a motorist reported being ahead of a west bound GMC Safari van that was swerving all over the road.
The officer located the van in question and conducted a traffic stop. The officer determined that the male driver of the van had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver failed a roadside breath test and also failed two subsequent Intoxilyzer breath tests at the OPP Detachment in Listowel.
As a result of the police investigation, 34-year-old Mark GOETZ of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with “driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood”, and “fail to comply with probation order”. Both charges are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer to charges in the Listowel Criminal Court of Justice on September 21, 2016. He was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
