During the week of the 5 September 2016, to the 11 September 2016, there were 83 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.
There were six motor vehicle collisions, two were animal related.
There were four domestic dispute calls for service during the week of the 5 September 2016, to the 11 September 2016. There was one domestic related incident involving criminal code charges.
Assault Cause Bodily Harm
On the 5 September 2016 at approximately 4:27 p.m., Whitney OPP Constable Keith Jones received a call of a domestic dispute on Highway #523, South Algonquin Township. As a result of police investigation, a 40 yr. old male from South Algonquin Twp. was charged with Assault Cause Bodily Harm, section 267(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Stunt Driving Charges
On the 9 September 2016 at approximately 7: 59 p.m., an officer from the Killaloe OPP Detachment was conducting stationary radar on Highway # 60 in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. A Ford Focus was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted and as a result of police investigation, 28 yr. old Zachary ASHICK of Bonnechere Twp. was charged with Stunt Driving, section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act. Further investigation by the officer determined the driver was in possession of suspected cannabis marihuana. The accused was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Cannabis Marihuana, section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused was released on an Appearance Notice, Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The licence was suspended, and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
Collision
On the 7 September 2016 at approximately 1:57 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Kyle Fabian received a call of a single vehicle collision on Highway #60 in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. A vehicle had left the roadway and had become lodged in the ditch. Renfrew County Ambulance attended the scene and transported the female passenger to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene. This incident remains under investigation.
Theft
On the 6 September, 2016 at approximately 7:38 p.m., Killaloe OPP Constable Chris Teasdale received a theft call on Drohan Street, Madawaska Valley Twp. Four new tires were stolen from the complainant’s property. This incident remains under investigation.
