(CALEDON, ON) – On Saturday, September 10, 2016 officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a single motor vehicle in the ditch on Airport Road, between Perdue Ct. and Healey Road in the Town of Caledon. Officers attended the scene and observed a Grey Nissan Altima in the ditch. Officers also observed a child still seated in the back seat of the vehicle. Upon speaking to the male driver of the vehicle, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.
Upon further investigation, the officer determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by the consumption of alcohol and arrested the operator of the Nissan accordingly.
As a result, a 49 male, from Brampton was charged with the following offences:
Adult Driving while Impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol)
Adult Driving with More than 80 mgs
Adult Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
The 90 day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 29, 2016.
Police are not releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the child.
