Eulie READER – Drugs

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On September 11, 2016 a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 400 in McDougall Township. At approximately 12:44 p.m. a north bound vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. As a result the vehicle was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.

The driver, Eulie READER, 25 years of age from Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

· Race a Motor Vehicle – excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA).

· Possession of a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams as per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The driver was served a summons requiring him to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on October 20, 2016 to answer to the charges. His licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days.

Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
