On September 15th 2016 at approximately 2:30 p.m., there was a fatal motor vehicle collision on Dumfries Road in North Dumfries Township. The collision occurred when a southbound dump truck entered the northbound lanes while negotiating a left hand turn. A motorcycle travelling northbound driven by a 61 year old female from Kitchener, struck the front of the truck as was ejected to the side of the roadway. The 62 year old dump truck driver from Hannon was not injured. The female was assisted by several people from the nearby business and she was transported to Cambridge Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police closed Dumfries Road for several hours while the investigation took place. Traffic Investigators are seeking any additional witnesses to the collision and are encouraging them to contact police at 519 650-8500 x 8856. At this time the driver’s name is not being released pending extended family being notified. Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
