Drunk Driver Backs Into Police Cruiser

(LAMBTON, ON) – On Thursday September 22nd, 2016, the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received an anonymous complaint from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Egremont Road, Warwick Township.

At just before 4:00 p.m., the Lambton County OPP received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver at a business located in the 8400 block of Egremont Road, Warwick Township. The suspected impaired driver was observed consuming alcoholic beverages inside the business and again while in a parked vehicle on the premises. OPP arrived at the location and located the male party in a vehicle at the business. The male driver upon observing the police, attempted to reverse the vehicle out of its position, consequently striking the marked police vehicle that was stopped directly behind it. The male driver was arrested after a brief struggle with police that resulted in no injuries sustained to police or the male driver.

Assault a Peace Officer

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday October 24th, 2016.

The OPP is again reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
