Women Identified and Charged with Shoplifting

(NAPANEE, ON)- Two women have been identified and charged after Napanee OPP received tips from the public following the release of surveillance footage of suspects involved in thefts from downtown businesses in Napanee.

The women were caught on video surveillance entering the businesses on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. The women were pushing strollers with young children in them.

In both cases the women were suspected of shoplifting clothing and/or jewellery from the stores.

Charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 is 54 year-old Carol SMITH of Belleville.

Charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 is 50 year-old Melinda FOOTE of Brighton.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on October 25, 2016.
