(BARRIE, ON) – On Thursday September 29, 2016 at approximately 7:20 AM a collision occurred between a motor vehicle and what is described as a full sized bear on Old Barrie Road between Penetanguishene Road and Line 1 of Oro-Medonte Township. This is near W.R. Best Public School.
The school authorities have been notified and the school along with students have been secured for safety.
Officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are on scene along with Officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources who are currently tracking the bear.
