Fatal School Bus Collision – Name Withheld Pending Next Of Kin Notification

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On October 4, 2016, at approximately 9:18 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal single motor vehicle crash.

A yellow school bus was travelling westbound on Twelve Mile Road, when it struck the north side shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle then travelled across the roadway, where the front of the bus struck a tree on the south side of the roadway, causing the bus to roll onto its passenger side.

The 63-year-old female driver (and lone occupant) was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

There were no students on the bus.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result, Twelve Mile Road was closed between Highbury Avenue and Adelaide Road.

The road was re-opened at approximately 1:43 p.m.
