Peter PAPPIN – Drunk Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON)- On October 3, 2016, at approximately 10:20 p.m., members of the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle being operated erratically eastbound on Highway 17, near the town of McKerrow. Officers patrolled the area and observed the suspect vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 17, east of the town of Nairn Centre. Police initiated a traffic stop and determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Peter PAPPIN, 47 years of age, from Capreol, was arrested and charged with the following:

Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act

The accused driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on November 7, 2016 to answer to his charges.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
