Fatal Collision Update – Names Of Deceased Released

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On October 11, 2016, at approximately 11:58 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), North Middlesex Fire Services, and the Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a fatal single motor vehicle crash on Kerwood Road, north of Elm Tree Drive.

A grey Ford van was travelling northbound on Kerwood Road, when it left the roadway, struck a galvanized steel hydro pole on the east side of the road, and caught on fire.

Civilians were responsible for the successful extrication of both of the occupants from the vehicle.

The driver, a 60-year-old male from Bosanquet Township, Ontario, was transported by ambulance with life threatening injuries to hospital, where he remains, currently listed in critical condition.

The 30-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Jonathan HOOKS, from Warwick Township, Ontario.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. As a result, Kerwood Road between Elm Tree Drive and Bornish Drive was closed. The roadway has been re-opened.
