(THUNDER BAY, ON)- On October 16, 2016, at approximately 7:49 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter and mischief at a residence in the Municipality of Shuniah. Shortly after, officers were advised the suspect had left the residence.
As officers were enroute to the residence, officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 11/17 and subsequently a traffic stop was conducted on East Loon Road.
Officers spoke to the driver and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests.
Roger HANEY, 46 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code (CC):
-Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) CC,
-Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) CC,
-Mischief contrary to section 430(4) CC,
-Break and Enter contrary to section 348(1)(a) CC.
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on December 6, 2016, to answer to the charges.
