(TOWNSHIP OF ESSA) –,On Sunday, October 16, 2016, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police, were called to attend a farm on the 5th Line of Essa. This was in response to numerous public concerns respecting the health and well-being of two horses.
It became clear through investigation that the standard of care was well below what was reasonable. A Veterinarian, who specializes in the care, and medical services of horses was contacted and attended the scene. The Veterinarian advised that both animals had been neglected for some time. The attending Veterinarian determined that both animals were in extreme pain and ultimately euthanized them.
AmieLIN, age 44, of Markham, Ontario has been charged with 2 counts of animal neglect and one count of mischief under $5000.00. She was issued an Appearance Notice and is to appear in Bradford Court on November 17, 2016.
