(TEMAGAMI, ON) – On September 2, 2016 members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Bear Island First Nation Police responded to an assault on Bear Island First Nation.
Through lengthy investigation and with the assistance of the North East Regional Support Team (NERST), on November 10, 2016 an individual was arrested and charged with numerous offences under the Criminal Code (CC).
Jonathan James PAUL, 38, of Bear Island is charged with:
Assault – section 266 CC
Mischief – section 430(4) CC (2 counts)
Assault with a Weapon – section 267(a) CC
Fail to Comply with Probation Order – section 733.1(1) CC
The accused is in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on November 29, 2016.
