(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 28-year-old male from Huron East has been taken into custody following a traffic stop that took place over the weekend. At approximately 1:19 p.m. on December 3, 2016 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Volkswagen travelling westbound into Clinton on Ontario Street. The investigating officer noticed the passenger was failing to wear his seat belt; as a result the vehicle was stopped on Ontario Street near Williams Street South.
Upon stopping the vehicle the officer determined the passenger was currently wanted for property related offences and failing to attend court. As a result he was arrested on the strength of the valid warrants and taken into custody. Upon searching the male he was found to be in possession of suspected Oxycodone and Methamphetamine.
28-year-old Michael BERNARD from Huron East has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Oxycodone) and Passenger Fail to Properly Wear Seat Belt. He remains in custody with an upcoming court date at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
