(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 39-year-old male from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is facing an Over 80 charge following a traffic stop that took place this past weekend. At 3:25 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 a Dodge Ram pickup truck entered into a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint that was set up on Benmiller Line near Hemlock Lane.
A Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spoke with the male driver and while speaking with him the officer detected the driver had been drinking some alcohol.
As a result the driver was directed to provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The test was administered and the driver registered a Fail. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
39-year-old Daniel SHETLER from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 9, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded for the week.
