Twitter Threat Triggers Hold And Secure At Schools

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a threat that was made via the social media site Twitter to a Trillium Lakelands School at 9:05 a.m. today. The Tweet was made to the Trillium Lakelands School Board and as a result all Trillium Lakeland Schools, both elementary and secondary were put into a “Hold and Secure” in order to ensure the safety of students while police investigate.

The “Hold and Secure” procedure ensures that the schools are locked, prohibiting any movement into or out of the buildings. Students are otherwise carrying on their day as normal.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact Bracebridge OPP at (888) 310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
