Fraud At Church Leads To Charges For Repeat Offender

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a local man with numerous fraud related charges in relation to theft of cheques from a local church.

On December 08, 2016 a call was received from an Orillia area bank indicating they believed someone was trying to cash stolen cheques. An investigation revealed that the cheques were written to a local church and not the male in possession of them.

As a result of the investigation the Orillia OPP has charged, Jason HART 39 years old, of Orillia with the following offences:

Four counts of Fraud Under $5,000

Seven counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Four counts of Uttering Forged Documents

Two counts of Breach of Probation.

The ACCUSED was held for a bail hearing on December 9, 2016 and remanded into custody.
