(Oro-Medonte, ON) – Over the weekend of Friday December 9 at 6:00PM to Monday December 12, 2016 at 6:00AM Officers from Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 37 Calls For Service. These Calls varied from Alarms to Traffic Complaints to Motor Vehicles Collisions to Domestic Disputes to Conducting R.I.D.E. Programs.
There were 6 motor vehicle collisions. Most of these collisions were single motor vehicles into the ditch. Barrie OPP reminds drivers to slow down and drive according to the winter road conditions.
Two collisions of note:
On Saturday December 10, 2016 at 1:30AM a motor vehicle was northbound on Highway 11 near Line 6 of Oro-Medonte Township. The 2013 Black KIA struck the guard rail. The 32-year old female from Ramara Township was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired Contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood Contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie at a later date.
On Sunday December 11, 2016 at 4:03PM a pick-up truck with a utility trailer traveling south bound on Highway 11 near Line 13 of Oro-Medonte Township went into the ditch from the southbound lanes. The 29 year old male driver from Barrie was charged with Drive Under Suspension Contrary to Section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
There were no injuries caused by either of these motor vehicle collisions.
