(Wingham, North Huron) On August 10, 2026, a judge at the Goderich courthouse will be asked to determine whether the rule of law—an essential pillar of our democracy—is being upheld. Does the law apply equally to everyone, or are some people in positions of power treated as though they are above it?
On that date, a group of rights activists will demand that North Huron Deputy Reeve Kevin Falconer be arrested and charged in connection with the alleged assaults of February 17, 2026. Despite multiple witness statements and video recordings, the OPP have not arrested or charged Falconer.
Activists say the OPP’s handling of the matter has further eroded the already-fragile trust between the police and the public they are paid to serve and protect. Public confidence in the OPP has reportedly reached a new low, intensifying demands that established accountability mechanisms address the allegations fairly and transparently.
A small convoy of flag-bearing vehicles is being organized to attend the Goderich courthouse on August 10 if Falconer has not been arrested by then. Organizers say the demonstration will be peaceful and focused on equal treatment under the law.
