Zero Tolerance – Water Safety

(LAKE HURON) – On August 28th, 2010 at 1:57 pm, the South Bruce OPP marine unit was patrolling the waters of Lake Huron near Inverhuron when a safety violation was observed on a personal watercraft. 27 year old Brian Humphrey of Jarvis was charged under the Canada Shipping Act – Small Vessel Regulations as he was towing an inflatable device with no spotter. The South Bruce OPP marine unit is sending a strong message to water enthusiasts “Enjoy your day on the water, but remember there is a zero tolerance for safety violations by boat or personal watercraft operators. Too many lives have been lost on Ontario water ways this summer and this has to change.”
