Youths Stuck On Clay Mountain

(WALKERTON, ON) – On May 25, 2013 at 7:14 pm, two teenage males called 911 when they got stuck as they attempted to climb the clay bank of the Saugeen River. The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded with the Municipality of Brockton Fire Department and located the youths near the north end of Walkerton. They were stuck 2/3 of the way up a clay bank that’s approximately 200 feet high. Fire fighters were able to lift the boys to safety using ropes. There were no injuries reported at the scene.

Parents and caregivers are asked to talk to their youth about the risks associated with thrill seeking. This incident could easily have ended in serious injury or worse.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122.
